Ron Dermer served as Israel’s Minister of Strategic Affairs from 2022–2025 and as Israel’s Ambassador to the United States from 2013–2021, where he became one of Israel’s most influential diplomats and strategic advisors. Born and raised in Miami Beach, Florida, Dermer made Aliyah in 1996 after earning degrees from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and Oxford University.
Over the course of his career, Dermer served as a senior advisor and political strategist to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and worked closely with Natan Sharansky, co-authoring the bestselling book The Case for Democracy. He later served as Israel’s Economic Attaché to the United States and then as Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister.
As Ambassador to the United States, Dermer played a central role in strengthening the U.S.-Israel alliance. During his tenure, he helped secure the largest security assistance package in Israel’s history, led Israel’s secret negotiations that paved the way for the historic Abraham Accords, and was deeply involved in efforts that resulted in U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.
Following October 7th, Dermer served in Israel’s War Cabinet and led key diplomatic and strategic initiatives involving the United States and regional security. In 2026, after decades in government service and international diplomacy, he founded Dermer Consulting Group (DCG), a Jerusalem-based firm providing strategic guidance to select clients navigating the increasingly complex global landscape, with a special focus on Israel, the broader Middle East, and the United States.
He lives in Jerusalem with his wife, Rhoda. The couple has five children.
